On behalf of scientific and organizing committee of the 4th International Conference of Ecological and Environmental Engineering, we would like to invite you to Beja city, Portugal. Nowadays, new challenges arise looking for transdisciplinary approach towards work out complex solutions. Thus, this conference creates a new platform to jointly generate new discussions for a common and better science in the future. The conference will be an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas related to several areas of environmental sciences as water and wastewater technology, water and waste management, environmental risk assessment, renewable energy, sustainable development and circular economy, air pollution and climate change, geoinformation and remote sensing, and innovation – environmental engineering 4.0.

The idea of organizing this cyclical conference arose on the well-established cooperation between eight Polish Universities: University of Life Science in Lublin, University of Agriculture in Kraków, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Science, Poznań University of Life Science, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Gdańsk University of Technology, and Rzeszów University of Technology with Polytechnic Institute of Beja (Portugal). Recently the following institutions have joined the cooperation in the organization of the conference Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain), Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic), Henan Agricultural University (China), University of Prishtina (Kosovo), Technical University of Crete (Greece), Lublin University of Technology (Poland), Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) as well as three Polytechnic Institutes in Portugal (Coimbra, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo).

Beja is the main city of Baixo Alentejo region, considered a quiet and welcoming city with a beautiful walled centre and fascinating places to visit and discover. Its picturesque squares, good restaurants where Alentejo food and wine are a must and affordable accommodation make it an ideal combination for a relaxing stay and a purely Portuguese experience. Beja city also stands out because it is in an important winemaking and olive oil region. Here you can taste its delicious wines and olive oils, produced in these lands, in any of its 7 wine cellars dedicated to ecotourism. The delicious conventual sweets, like the handmade chocolate of Beja, which combines chocolate with the traditional flavors of the region of Alentejo (honey, olive oil, wine, cheese, pennyroyal, and rosemary) are also experiences not to be missed.

We hope that the 4th International Conference on Ecological and Environmental Engineering and the city of Beja itself will encourage you to actively participate in this interesting event.
